This year you
will be required to produce a series of journal pieces. Creating a selection of written and creative journal pieces contributes
to the achievement of satisfactory Literacy Outcomes.
A list io topics and ideas for pieces are presented in this space. You can also use your own original ideas for piece development. Discuss it with your teacher if you have a particular type of piece you would like to develop. If it is appropriate for school it will be all cool. Also, sometimes a journal piece can build up into a much bigger project for Literacy or another aspect of your VCAL course.

Now - to revising VCAL course aims and a self-expression task to formally begin your folio development.

Use the sites listed here to create some avatars. Collect a variety of avatar handles that you can use as profile pictures when using web tools for your learning. Snip, save and upload the examples of avatars you design to represent you at this moment in time. Use one to decorate your document wallet.

2. If you need to set up with a g-mail or other e-mail for school, sign up using you school logon, e.g., abc123@gmail.com. If your username is taken vary it by one of the following:
a. msc
b. msc1

your passwords.
5. If you are asked to use a web space you have already joined in
another class, you will use the account you have already created. There
is no need to sign up from scratch – just sign in, accept invites and/or
join spaces as needed with the already registered account.

TASK: Aim to develop ½ to 1 page pieces of writing that are paragraphed and interesting to read. They can be true story, made up or a mixture of both. Enhance presentation with drawn or selected and referenced pictures. Use the following topics to get you started:
Earth Day happens each year on April 22nd. It is a day that has the goal of inspiring us to think about our beautiful planet and all it does for us.
Many young people care a lot about what happens to Earth and have strong points of view about what is right and wrong in terms of how people use resources.
If this is you, you can use your voice to argue for a cause or celebrate the Earth for all its wonderfulness in a journal piece. Some approaches you could use are:
Selecting a colour in picture of something or a place in our world that you love: using it as a cover for a bigger piece, writing a response inspired by the image you have chosen or collecting a set of 10 or more fantastic facts about our environment
Write a letter to the editor about a topical issue about the environment
Write a letter to our planet Earth, thanking it for all it provides to you
Select a favourite country or one you know little about to develop a facts sheet for it
Other
Now you are back at school
following your Year 12 camp, take some time to write about it and create a
journal piece reflecting on the experience.
Please write about the following items, and anything else you can think
to include:
1. What were your favourite SIX camp activities? Rank them
in order from your most favourite (number one) to your sixth most favourite
(number six).
2. For each of the activities write a few sentences explaining WHY each of your six listed activities was a favourite of yours.
2. For each of the activities write a few sentences explaining WHY each of your six listed activities was a favourite of yours.
3. Describe the accommodation and meals you had at camp. What rating
would you give the accommodation and food experience.
4. Who did you hang out the most with at camp. What were some of the moments you shared. Were there any sayings or mottoes that were special to your camp experience. Was there any songs that featured to the soundtrack of your time there.
4. Who did you hang out the most with at camp. What were some of the moments you shared. Were there any sayings or mottoes that were special to your camp experience. Was there any songs that featured to the soundtrack of your time there.
5. This camp was about giving you an opportunity to think about what
Year 12 means and aimed to give you strategies about what you can be doing to
make the most of this year when it comes to learning, short and long term goals
and social activities. What types of things has the camp made you think about?
Discuss the things you are looking forward to and the approaches to learning
and using time that you want to incorporate for yourself.
6. Who were the guest speakers. What were some of the things they talked about. Were there any significant comments/stories that you remember being said. What were the important things you remember them telling you.

7. Other….
Throughout Year 12 a series of dress up days are run. If you love your dress up fun you can develop a dress up journal throughout the year.
1. Access the dates and themes for the dress up events.
2. Brainstorm your ideas for the different days and decide on a favourite.
3. Explain the process of organising your dress ups. Will you visit op shops, purchase a costume, borrow pieces or design and create what you wear.
4. Get pictures of your preparation steps for each day as well as the pictures from the day
At the end of the year you can use your dress ups pictures to create a souvenir calendar for you and your friends to have in the coming year. If you have a good variety of pictures you could create one for every Year 12 to take as a memento.
If a number of groups of students are interested in this activity a series of calendars can be created for the coming years.
Feeling your best allows you to be your best and enjoy your life. Who doesn't want that? There are lots of apps being developed to help us do just that. The only thing is, with lots of apps being developed it can be hard to know which are the right ones for you. That's where app reviews come in.
If you come across a health and lifestyle app that you are finding to be the best thing since vegemite and avocado, make sure you let the world know about it. Put together a review that you can use to promote it. Alternately, if a health and lifestyle app turns out to be as funky as that grimy feeling soft drink leaves on your teeth, let everyone know why it is not worth the download.
What a health/lifestyle app review needs to include:
Heading and visual/s
An explanation of the app's function
Consideration of the following -
What is interesting about the app?
How have you found the app to be helpful? Or not?
In which situations do/did you use the app?
How does the app provide you with information? (Use visuals as appropriate)
Who do you think would find this app useful?
Conclude your review with a rating of the app out of five stars. Provide an overall summarising reason for the rating.
